The Elite French Championships in the 50m pool:
“A few months before the 2016 Olympic Games, the French swimming elite will be in Montpellier from Tuesday, March 29 to Sunday, April 3, at the 50m French Championships, all of which will face off with one goal in mind. his selection for Rio. “
To do this, swimmers must meet the selection criteria established by the National Technical Direction and be one of the first two finalists having achieved the expected time.
It is with reference to the performances realized during the last international deadlines (OG 2012, Mondials 2013 and 2015) that the DTN has defined these criteria. These references imposed by the DTN are a reflection of the international level for 4 years, they allow staking the course of our athletes and build a team from France likely to hold its rank * at the Olympics this summer.
This French championship is the only opportunitéy for French swimmers to qualify as an individual * and to express all that they have implemented during these last four years of training. While the Olympic ticket is seen as a defining goal for athletes, the DTN maintains a longer-term vision: “Qualification is not the ultimate goal. It is an essential step, but the real objective remains to succeed in the Olympics. We are aware of the issues for each athlete who will play an Olympic Qualification this week. We have a lot of respect for the work done and for what has been put in place by their coaches and clubs for 4 years. “
In order to optimize the athletes’ preparation conditions, the DTN and the Federation have deployed this year a specific assistance program for athletes from international teams. This collective involvement should pay off in these selections. “We are convinced of the commitment and support of each of the players in French swimming: swimmers, coaches, technical executives, club leaders and elected representatives of the federation alongside the future French Olympic Team, these championships will also be opportunitéy to pay tribute to this state of mind. Our collective success at the next Olympics will reflect the vitality of French swimming, French sport and France.
After Montpellier, the team of France will be able to refine its preparation during two other determining stages on the way towards Rio: the Euro in London (from 9 to 22 May) and the Open de France in Vichy (2 and 3 July) . “
