This Sunday, December 11, 2017, 19 people have registered for this visit of the Hotel de la Monnaie. The guide-speaker, before the visit, took us to the main staircase to visit the Museum’s VIP lounge, explaining the history and architecture of the buildings.
THANK YOU FOR THIS INTERESTING VISIT TO A PLACE WHICH HAD BEEN UNTIL KNOWN.
THE HISTORY OF CURRENCY, THE CREATION OF PARTS ARE FASCINATING.
THANK YOU TO THE SPEAKER FOR SHARING WITH US HIS PASSION FOR THIS ART.
MARTINE AND ANNIE
On this cold and windy Sunday morning, we visited the Hôtel de la Monnaie in the heart of Paris, along the banks of the Seine.
All very interested in the comments of our young speaker, we learned everything – or almost – from the minting of the coin, the precious materials that compose it and its history.
We visited with great pleasure this newly renovated place which offers the curious the opportunity to see the artisans at work – but not on Sunday morning!
Some of us will no doubt return to discover the last building of this gigantic ensemble that will reopen next year.

The staircase and the lounge of honor.
After this 2 hour visit, there was the possibility to stay in the museum for a free visit. 8 people preferred to walk around this hotel, through the Institut de France, and continue in the St-Germain district. We passed by the street of “scalded”.
Do you know the origin? The scalded is an old pastry.
See you soon for a new adventure
